Description: The Runway Markings Editor provides the user the ability to define the width of SIMMOD runways, their markings, and where their displaced thresholds are located. The APECS Animator program links this information back to the runway definitions as read from the SIMU40 file to draw properly scaled runways on the map graphics screen. Additionally with the definition of the appropriate runway markings, the APECS Animator draws the markings on the runways at the proper location and orientation in the same font as prescribed by the FAA's directive concerning how runway markings should appear. Notes: This editor is necessary because SIMMOD has a limitation such that runways should be named using an alphanumeric identifier such as "SAN_31". If just "31" were used as the runway identifier numerous potential flaws could be created with the particular SIMMOD model. Unfortunately SAN_31 is not a proper runway marking as defined by the FAA. Thus, this editor allows you to define for a SIMMOD required runway identifier the proper runway marking. You will need to save your runway data, exit the APECS Animator, and then re-enter the program for your changes to be displayed on the map graphics. You should only have to do this operation once though. Components: Save - Save the currently defined runways New - Create a new runway definition. Delete - Delete the currently selected runway definition. Column Definitions: Pri. Dir SIMMOD Id. - The primary direction SIMMOD runway identifier. This should be the identifier found in your SIMU07 RUNWAY card's definition of the runway. Pri. Dir Rwy Marking - The actual marking that is present on the runway in the primary direction. Width (feet) - The width of this runway in feet. Pri. Dir Threshold (feet) - The displaced threshold in the primary direction. This is the location on the runway where the runway marking will be drawn. Opp. Dir SIMMOD Id. - The opposite direction SIMMOD runway identifier. This should be the identifier found in your SIMU07 RUNWAY card's definition of the runway. Opp. Dir Rwy Marking - The actual marking that is present on the runway in the opposite direction. Opp. Dir Threshold (feet) - The displaced threshold in the opposite direction. This is the location on the runway where the runway marking will be drawn.
