QGF Display Control

Description:

The QGF Display Control allows the user to load into memory a QGF graphics layer. QGF graphics layers are created by converting an Autocad DXF file to the QGF format.

The QGF file format is an ASCII file format designed by the FAA for the UNIX Workstation version of SIMMOD 2.2. The file format allows for a wide variety of graphics primitives to be included for the purpose of creating elaborate map pictures. The units inside a QGF file are in terms of latitude, longitude, and altitude, thus making hand editing and visual debugging very easy.

QGF Display Control Elements:

Save Settings - The Save Settings button stores the paths, QGF filenames, and associated properties the user has designated during the usage session.

Open QGF File - The Open QGF File button allows the user to locate a QGF file to be loaded into the APECS Animator.

Delete QGF Reference - The Delete QGF Reference button removes the selected QGF file from the scrolling list below the button. The file is not removed from the computer.

Current Path - The single field directly below the Save Settings button contains the Current Path field.

Referenced QGFs List - The scrolling list below the Current Path field lists the QGF's which are referenced by the Animator. If the eye icon for a particular QGF file is open then the QGF file should be currently loaded into memory. If the eye icon is in a closed state then the QGF may be loaded into memory, but it's visibility is currently turned off.

Always Apply - The Always Apply checkbox makes sure that any changes in visibility or priority for the currently selected QGF are applied immediately. Turn this checkbox on when you are fine tuning the visibility or priority settings.

To Map - The To Map button applies the visibility and priority settings to the selected QGF only when you press the button. This is useful when you are changing the priority significantly on a large QGF and do not want a long screen refresh for each change in the priority.

Name - The Name field displays the name of the currently selected QGF file.

Path - The Path field displays the path of the currently selected QGF file.

Visible Button - Click the eye icon to toggle the display of the QGF on and off.

Priority - Change the priority to allow this QGF graphics layer to be displayed higher up in the order, or lower down in the order. This capability is similar to the capability to bring items to the front or to the rear in graphics editing programs.
